Aspire Leflunomide

Hi all

HAPPY NEW YEAR XXX

Does anyone take Aspire leflunomide and noticed massive hair loss ?

It’s so upsetting I’m shoving Rosemary oil on my scalp twice a day as it’s as effective as regain hair loss tonic but my losses are ridiculous

Hi Reikimaster I had really bad hair loss with mtx, but since going on to leflunomide (Aspire) two years six months ago my hair has returned to normal.

That’s good to know , I’m also on aspire as you’ve probably read . Just trying to work out the cause of my losses - also hypothyroid might need that tweaking x

MXT is what got my hair. My rheumy reduced my dose and put me on the biologic route 💕

Yes I’ve been on biological but they didn’t suit me . Leflunomide I’ve been on for 10 years but the bugbear is hair loss 😭x

I'm not on the drug you mentioned but, I'm thinking that it's probably your hypothyroidism. Perhaps you need to up your dose of thyroid meds.

Does MTX or Leflunomide impact thyroid function? I was not aware of that connection.

I've had a moderate amount of hair loss with leflunomide. I have very thick hair so my hair still looks ok, but very dry too. I was hoping the hair loss would stabilise.

I’ve been on Leflunomide years each times I wash my hair clumps of strands are always dangling when I put the conditioner through it’s awful

Been on mtx for 7 months and noticed increase in hair thinning. Have just had my thyroxine increased 3 weeks ago but no improvement yet. Any suggestions to help please?

Try rosemary or lavender oil on your scalp and massage it in . Apparently it’s as good as regain hair loss tonic I’ve been doing it morning and night but have been days I’ve totally forgot x

We can only try can’t we . I actually noticed a little “ baby hair” coming through on my hairline yesterday so I’m hopeful 🙏🏻

My hair isnt falling out with Leflunomide, but it has the texture of a Steelo scrubbing pad...with methotrexate it got very thin until the specialist prescribed folic acid, which worked like a miracle. I took OTC vitamin B complex for a while, and I think that helped...it certainly got worse once I stopped. Worth a shot?

I have gone onto Biotene for hair growth and scalp issues and rub coconut oil in to scalp as mine started with MTX a little got a lot worse with Lefluomide.

It has made hair softer and less tangled as such but only just started two weeks ago so will let you know

I'm dealing with that issue right now. My rheumy changed me from MTX to Leflunomide. I took it for 4 months and my hair started falling out in huge handsfull with a thick mat covering the drain every time I showered. I stopped taking it about a month ago but the hair loss is still horrible. Does anyone know how long this will continue before I stop losing hair? I've been taking folic acid for years.

My Gp put me in some Diprosone and a shampoo . The hair loss stopped with the first application new hair started growing but it’s very scarce still . I take biotin & Saw Palmetto and ferrous sulphate ( iron tablets ) from the chemist 200mgc per tablet I was taking 2 as I was very anemic but dropped it down to 1 now . It takes months for my hair to grow I’m actually thinking of asking for dermatology referral
