I’ve been on this since May and am not impressed by its usefulness as it’s side effects are making me depressed so I am going to try and wean myself off .It’s very difficult to even talk on the phone to the G P these days .
I was originally taking amitriptiline but that didn’t help during the day and before seeing a consultant was advised to try gabapentin .I am still on the waiting list since May last year .They condition started in 2018 and its just so difficult!!
Any advice welcome.

Please try and talk to Gp as you should really follow a tapering regime for this. I was on it for a while too , before RA was diagnosed, and didn't get on with it but the Gp was very clear that I must taper down gradually, which I did. Hope things improve for you soon.
Sorry, meant to say I couldn't advise you on a tapering schedule as that would depend on how long how've been taking it and at which dose. But it really could make you feel bad if you were to go cold turkey!
I totally know where you’re coming from if I was you I would contact your GP and insist that you’re given advice for tapering off Gabapentin if it’s making you depressed and ask for an alternative ASAP. My best friend didn’t seek the advice when on that drug and her depression grew so much that unfortunately she committed suicide so please if you’re feeling depressed get some help now don’t leave it. There are many alternatives out there I think you need to take back a bit of control in this instance. I really was humming and arring whether to post this reply as the last thing I would ever want to do is upset anyone on this forum and I hope I haven’t upset you but depression symptoms should never be ignored. Keep us posted how you’re doing and I hope you’re feeling better soon.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply I am seeking the doctor s advice next week as so far all I’ve done is reduce from 6 tablets a day to 5 .My feeling low is more to do with being in almost total lockdown away from family.
Yeah I know it’s tough right now and I think everyone in tier 4 is struggling with it, myself included but hopefully we will be out of this mess soon and I doubt most of us will never again take for granted what we had regarding being able to go out and see family amongst other things. But maybe the Gabapentin isn’t helping with that and it’s not worth the risk of it making you feel worse if it’s not working anyway. Hope you find a solution but know that you can ask questions or post thoughts on this forum whenever you want.
No pain relief as it’s not exactly pain but burning sensation .But agreevto consukt GP and press for an alternative as I think I’ve tried this long enough and don’t want to take maximum amount!
