It’s a bit like RA and trying to control it, one minute drug A works, RA progresses or the body decides it’s had enough of drug A, and we have to start again.
Christmas is a day that has become significant in the lives of many, but really it’s just a day. Gifts can be opened another time. We can see our loved ones another day, when it’s safe to do so.
We can do things differently.
We can’t bring back people who are lost that might have been saved.
Enjoy Christmas in the best way you can in these circumstances. Make flexible arrangements to have special times with loved ones as soon as is possible, it’s something to look forward to.
Perspective and pragmatism are the bywords, there’ll be time for emotions later

Thanks for those remarks. You would think from the headlines in some of the papers that the end of the world had happened. Keep things in proportion and think of what is really important, not shopping or one day remembering why we don't see the family more often.
Sadly until some people stop putting their own wants(not needs) before other people’s lives nothing will change. After all everybody knew this new arrangement was quite likely to happen......
This morning I could not believe the emails I received from healthy friends telling me how “awful it is we can’t have Christmas “.......I have probably upset them by saying I prefer to spend Christmas quietly & stay alive....but that is how I feel.
Exactly Brushwork, my family decided long ago that we would have Christmas at another time and not take any risks now. Listening to the radio this morning you would think people had been told they can never see their children/grandchildren again. As for the photos this morning on London trains 🤷🏻♀️ I despair.
I have been listening to the radio too....& I must say the righteous indignation is so poor me. These people must have been sleepwalking......even if you only read the head lines....the appearance of a Covid19+++ surely heralded stricter rules?Until many more people understand WE ALL have to make more effort to contain this virus...things will not get better any time soon.
If we are told distancing is vital...why book a train ticket?
Or that mixing with family .... however dear they may be....who live 100 miles away could be dangerous ....why arrange to meet?
But it does look as if the Oxford vaccine may get the go ahead around 28/12...so let’s look forward with at least some optimism.
Well said, Brushwork. Focusing on things we can’t have/can’t do makes for a miserable life. RA has already taught me that lesson. Better times are coming, x
Wise words! The sad thing is, I’m pretty sure there will be plenty of folk who will still go ahead with their plans anyway, and sod the danger to the rest of society - hardly in the spirit of the season of goodwill to all. ☹️
yes brushwork 👍🙏there are only a couple of certainties in life, the rest we wing it, all we can do is our best and live to the best of our abilities, if this is the first xmas disrupted then we should not be selfishly moaning, how many xmases have been missed by war and lives lost, its tough of course, no one said it was easy, we should be grateful for the ones we've had together that have passed and hope for the future ones, there's much to be grateful for as well as to be sad about. perspective is key, loss is never easy and life can be tough ........ but we have much else to be grateful for , I am skint ,I am unwell , we argue. I have air in my lungs, I see the sun shine and I hear the birds sing 🙏merry xmas and all the best for the new year🙏
