Leflunomide and MXT - together or apart?

I am due to take my first Leflunomide tablet either tonight or tomorrow morning. I also have my 15mg methotraxate injection on Thursday mornings. Should I take the Leflunomide at the same time as the injection or space them out? Many thanks

Hi Diamond I started Leflunamide 5 weeks ago and I take it with the Mxt injection without any problems if that helps. I wasn’t told otherwise so I assumed it was ok. 🤞

I was put on leflunomide because of abnormal bloods on MXT so I stopped MXT before taking leflunomide.

Thank you for replying Pat13. I often have abnormal bloods (on mtx), but my gp just puts no further action required on the results - hopefully taking the leflunomide won't make them worse!

Sounds Ok then. My results were such that MXT was stopped immediately and Leflunomide started. I was on maximum dose of MXT so that maybe a different response. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck

I think my GPs aren't really on the ball with my bloods - that's what I was trying to say - I did try the max MTX but I felt so sick on it and so much hair fell out that my rheumy lowered the dose. I do hope the Leflunomide is working for you Pat13!

If you’re not sure about when/how to take your meds always speak to the prescriber or your pharmacy as they are best qualified to answer.

Thanks KittyJ. I usually do, but as it can take a few days for call backs I thought I would ask here first and see how other peeps take theirs. Seems to be ok to take them together - fingers crossed!
