I was able to have a warm shower for the first time in months this morning (had to make do with wash downs).
Courtesy of prednisolone, it almost makes the side effects worthwhile.

I know that feeling. It’s wonderful. And being able to wash ones hair too. Bliss!
Simple things xx
Amazon do some great grabs for showers so no need to drill tiles they work by suction and really do work well. When I had the AKI I could not stand for long and even sitting it was hard to get out of shower. So he put up these grabbers and life became much easier. Once recovered a bit they can just be removed. I'm sure other companies do them but worth investing a couple of pound in.
I agree 100%
Hi Rachmaninov2 how much mg of prednisolone are you on? I started off on 10mg a day about 6yrs ago and couldn't handle it, the pressure in my head was so intense. I thought I was going crazy, had real sleep problems and nightmares. I don't sleep anyway, but just couldn't hold my head up and felt prednisolone was just the cause of inter cranial pressure. Went to hosp crying in pain saw the doc no no it's not the prednisolone was response. I told him to look it up, he looked in his little bible and said oh yes can cause inter cranial pressure. Reduce it to 7.5mg NEXT! As soon as I did that I began to feel 'normal,' again. I am now down again but cannot come off it completely as feet and legs swell when I try. Great to hear you could have a shower amazing what you miss when you can't do it! Keep fighting and stay safe.
Also treated myself to a bath lift rather than a bath board which like you I found sharp and uncomfortable. They are expensive, some being about £1,000.00 including fitting but worth every penny.
After awhile you may find you'll be able to drop the pred down but it may take sometime as we're all different and if nothing, RA teaches you to listen to your body more.
Yes, I spoke to the GP today and she agreed that I didn’t have to stick to what I had been prescribed. She is going to let me have some 1mg tablets so that I have more flexibility, but I also have to let the nurse on the Rheumatology helpline know what I am doing. Hooray, I hoped that I would have a Rheumatology nurse. I have seen other people speak about them and thought it would be better than ringing the GP as obviously more specialised.
For me, the drop to 7.5 stopped the pounding head and weird feelings, after about 6yrs I'm not down to 5mg a day. That keeps me sane! 🤣
