Where are we now?

Good morning everyone

My usual early morning wake up with teeth clenched together and heart pounding. Now accompanied by confusion!

Does anyone know if Automimmune conditions such as RD, Colitis etc along with immune suppressant meds such as MTX Adalimumab and maintenance prednisone still count as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable? Or have we been downgraded to plain old clinically vulnerable now?

The guidance I’ve read seems to suggest so... I will attach a photo if possible.

I’m a teacher with two teens who go to my school. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be going to work. Although with two kids there and crowded corridors etc it seems futile to stay home anyway!

Anyway I would love to hear from anyone who has their head round all this because i certainly don’t!!

The letter I received from the chief medical officer for Wales certainly seems to lump everybody together in that way.

It's not advised that we 'shield' any more but try to take as many precautions as we can.

But I don't think that you have much opportunity to keep away from sources of infection if you have teenagers and also teach... You can only do your best with masks and handwashing and general cleanliness and that's tough for you to come to terms with.

Somehow it makes me feel that you are neglected in some way, as though those of us with extra needs are not being catered for, or even thought about.

Thanks old timer. Bloody shambles!

I’m in the same position.. forgotten about or worse they don’t care. No support.

Here's a link to the full guidance for clinically vulnerable and clinically extremely vulnerable people in England from gov.uk. It seems to have been updated for 5th November.

gov.uk/government/publicati...

No time to read it all now as I'm going out ... to church to hear the banns read for my daughter's wedding on Dec 12th which will probably have to be posponed, again! 😢

Thanks so much for this. I’m sorry about the wedding. So much disappointment and sadness. I sincerely hope it happens for her on the date you have planned!

Hi, just a quick response. Your employer should be doing an individual risk assessment for you. Both you and them should have to agree with it and they should be making some type of reasonable adjustments for you. Get in touch with your union and get there advice, they should have policies in place, they have a duty of care for you. I realise it's not that easy, I'm a Prison Officer and there is policy there to protect me but they just want me back on the landings and want to forget that they have to protect the me. I'm currently working but doing office based work, I've had lots of pressure to go back on the wing's but the union has been great and really had my back. Don't be bullied into taking risks, make sure you are as safe as you can be!!

Good luck, and take care.

Great point. I do apparently have a risk assessment but not seen a copy!! This despite several requests!

Appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I’ve seen mine really not worth the paper it’s written on. No government backing so no paying if you self isolate other than being in contact or have covid.

Get in touch with the union, not only do you have to see it, you should be involved in writing it and agreeing to it.

Hope you get on ok👍🤞💪💪

my daughter got it from her kids going to school and catching it from the school, when we come out of lockdown on the 9th the welsh gov here and going to pay anyone who catches virus to stay at home for two weeks and stop employers bulling them to go back to work before the two weeks are up.

because whats happening is people can't afford to stay at home for two weeks so if they get it mild their only doing a few days and going back out, inturn spreadng it

Everything feels very bleak doesn’t it? Hope your daughter is fully recovered now.

They really don’t! I’ve lost whatever shred of faith I had a long time ago.

Good luck to you!
