Thyroid follow-up from last month

Hi, everyone! Last month my granddaughter Paige who is special needs was going through a crisis and in the hospital. She finally met with the endocrinologist who diagnosed her as having Hashimoto’s but no treatment because her bloodwork shows normal levels. Does this sound logical? Thanks for whatever you can offer. Bonnie

Hi Bonnie did you mean to post on the Thyroid UK forum for advice, this site is for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does your granddaughter have rheumatoid arthritis and been told she has Hashimoto’s as well, they are both auto immune diseases. I also have Hashimoto as well, but bloods showed this many years ago and treated with thyroxine ever since. I think the Thyroid UK site may be able to answer your concerns. All the best wishes for her. X

I have Hashimoto's its just thyroid antibodies and very easily treatable. I'd have thought that the doctor would have given her Thyroxine if she needed it and if not then its a watching brief until she does, if ever. Try not to worry its just a couple of pills a day and no problem at all.

Thank you medway-lady. That does ease my mind.

I think hashimotos thyroiditis means she has auto antibodies but the doc must mean the level of thyroxine in her blood is currently OK. They should keep a check on it. Low thyroxine can cause fatigue, weight gain and brittle hair and nails. Thyroid uk website has lots of really good info.

Best wishes

Kiki
