I was wondering if anybody had tried things like cryotherapy , turmeric shots things like that as an alternative or a complimentary way of dealing with RA or it’s associated conditions , I guess it depends on the severity of the disease

Hi Gaz,
You can do a search on the forum for specific things e.g Turmeric, there's lots of posts about 'alternatives', diets etc.
It's a minefield though 😂 good luck!
Hi. I’ve taken advance turmeric withBioPerine for a few months, Really works well for me. Tried many other things Too. with the exception of exercises no alternative seems to work. But never give up looking.
I’m currently trying Turmeric co shots , early days yet just doing half a shot a day for a week or so see how my stomach deals with it as they are very high dose
Agree with Tiverland that exercise is the best. It's hard to get the motivation sometimes and of course there is pain sometimes but there's more pain without it!
I am fortunate that I am exercise mad even when it hurts , sometimes I can be my own worst enemy , got to try and find the balance , had injections in my clavicle AC and SC joints today so got no choice but to rest for the next week at least , so I have been told if the drug is going to work .
literally, things are changing or getting worse for me, it seems by the hour. Since writing that exercise is great, I have been for a 4 mile walk - usually I run this route but was feeling a bit tired - I amnow in agony with classic RA type symptoms (which have been fleeting thus far) for the first time. Swollen fingers, aching knees, feet and ankles . will be reaching for the naproxen any minute now.
That’s a very good point , I’m virtually on the caveman diet now , running out of things to remove but feel better for it , but miss the treats
Haven't tried cryiobut used turmeric. When I asked my doctor he said if turmeric worked nobody in his country (India) would be suffering with RA 😂. I still take. Have tried Apple cider vinegar, ginger too. Always happy to try new things
I've tried exclusion diets re wheat, dairy, nightshde veg etc with limited results but2-3 yrs ago went to a short course on AI diseases, causes etc and was hooked re microbiome, Diet varied rarely red meat, mainly fish or veggie and use cumin, turmeric, and fresh herbs homegrown, also avoid white bread, rice, yeasted food and use KEFIR daily to improve gut flora. Found b12 helps concentration, memory, and multi minerals as elderly lose them... Mainly Med diet with v v little wine.. Swimming, stretching etc for body, music for mind. sorry this is a jumble, bio infusion overdue :-(. Dietary stuff inc dumping plastics.. look @ my back story.
I’ve been working on gut micro for a while now also my diet has been very much what you said , I keep kefir and sauerkraut in the fridge at all times , even if I don’t have it directly with a meal a have a couple of mouth fulls of each day. I find the subject of leaky gut and auto immune conditions being closely related very interesting convinced it could be one of the triggers , turning them off again is the big question . So for now I will keep working on the gut , and keep my fingers crossed nature is kind to me . If you have any breakthroughs Or find any good info on the subject please share . Good luck 👍
Interesting i found this post as this was exatly what i was thinking about.
I read on an arthritis web site the other day about leaky gut and how there is now evidence to suggest the correlation ,and that some rheumatologists are weening patients off drugs altogether.
That is music to my ears as not having a definitive diagnosis yet, it is looking extremely likely i have RA and i am very cautious about getting myself put on a load of very heavy toxic drugs.
I feel exactly the same , I have been constantly reassured that the dose level of methotrexate for RA is low in comparison to chemotherapy . But I would rather not take anything , is a real dilemma to say the least , especially when you have a good day and think have I suddenly gone into remission only to wake up the next morning with dry eyes and mouth aching joints and a gurgling stomach . I am taking Turmeric shots at the moment it’s early days to know if they are making a difference , I am also eating kefir and sauerkraut daily Along with anything else that I can get in my stomach that is supposed to improve the microbiome , if you have any other ideas please share them with me 👍😀
Well i would love to share any but im pretty much the same as you ,i was dx with the bog standard fibro 6 years ago ..never bought that diagnosis .suffered through many issues since then and then decided to do my own investigations privately since all drs do is fob you off and dont bother doing the right tests.Needless to say two private tests a month apart (doc refused to accept first one )showed raised antibodies indicating hashimotos .
Roll on 4 months and i can hardly function and cry with pain most days.Drs do the correct tests and low and behold RF is high.Am now waiting to see urgent rhuemy so am still very much in the dark myself Gaz.I feel your frustration very much btw.
However i am not a believer that drugs can possibly be the only way with every single illness and it seems some of the "experts" might agree since the evidence is pointing to gut issues and autoimmunity link.
There has to be a reason why we are all becoming so sick and i tend to believe in undoing ,removing and healing the root cause (which is probably chemically releated in the first place )rather than adding in a whole load more.
But thats purely my opinion .
I’ve had Pmr for 5 years now or so they think , and in all that time never had a blood test for RA , only once have I had a raised ESR and CRP . Talking to the Rhuemy on the phone Thursday going to ask for all blood tests for RA , I have a list of questions for him , going to ask about gut health also and see if he try’s to fob me off. I’ll let you know what he says 👍 try to keep your chin up I know it’s hard but it’s the only way forward . 😀
forgot to say some fresh foods i find help reduce inflammation.. raspberries , apricots, and sour/bitter things like dill pickles, sorrel, artichokes, will try 2find my old notes but put most it into my 2017 posts, i think.. we were also told to dump plastics, freeze things in jam or kilner jars and cook fresh not ready meals... which i've always done anyway. good luck 2u too. my personal experiences suggest the major triggers for me have been stress events.
