I think the only thing you can do is talk to your consultant & ask if he has admitting rights at another hospital.

As far as I can ascertain many Nuffield Hospitals are contracted to the

NHS right now.

Some are holding outpatient appointments....& doing some OP procedures...but so far the ORs are still closed.

I feel for you deejojo - in every level.

Can you contact your rhuemy and see if they have any ideas? I know things are now opening up in the NHS- at least in Scotland anyway, but there will be the inevitable prioritising of services and a terrible back log re waiting lists.

Try your rhuemy and see if they have any ideas. You can’t continue in such pain and misery.

I also understand re rude people. Had a similar experience recently myself with GP surgery.

Fingers crossed you find some relief and some answers soon x

All private hospitals are contracted out to NHS hospitals due to COVID-19, until the government changes the ruling it will remain the same.

Staff in NHS and Private hospitals are as much in the know as you and I.

Like everyone else in the UK we have to wait for updates from the government.

You are not alone this has had an effect on all patients, and right now we all need to be a little more patient and stay safe. I do understand you will be in a lot of pain I am myself waiting to go back to be seen but like everyone we have to wait. I know it’s not what you wish to hear but we have to be thankful we are here and not lying in ICU.

Yes, a good reminder. It would be nice to think things are back to normal, but another 233 deaths today sadly.

It’s frustrating to have to wait for surgery but unfortunately, it’s the situation and there isn’t a lot anyone can do to change things.

It’s for your own safety too. Hospitals continue to have issues with outbreaks within wards and it could potentially be unsafe. I’m waiting for treatment. It’s rubbish but planned procedures are on hold right now as per government policy.

Take care 💐💐

Stats show that a third of Covid cases are picked up in hospital.

Yes, the private hospitals are designated as cancer hubs and it is vital that cancer patients or transplant patients get their treatment.

I have SLE, RD, immune deficiency and much more which all results in global chronic neuropathic pain. I am waiting for another lidocaine infusion in theatre to help me just move. But I have to remind myself that however bad the pain gets, and trust me it gets to a point that I don't think I can take it anymore. I have to remember that somewhere people are living with cancerous tumors that are just growing and growing and they need treatment first.

It's such a difficult situation.

I appreciated your response as it grounded me as am in an awful lot of pain tonight.

Sometimes you can read something that just 're-sets' you. Thank you.

TLC55 is correct is what they wrote. You stated that the person was rude. Perhaps you should also consider what you write...ie they were stupid, not very nice, staff in our hospitals are working above and beyond since this pandemic started. A lot of us are in agony and waiting for treatment, at least we are not in a intensive bed. No need to reply.

Sounds to me like you might be being bad tempered because of the pain. I know that's the way pain effects me. (Ask my husband. Lol.)

Is there nothing else they can subscribe you for the pain while you have to wait. I know some people disapprove but I've found fentanyl patches have made a world of difference to me.

If I'm in pain I get very irritable and intolerant, especially if I'm not sleeping well. It's often difficult then to cope with someone who is probably fed up of people ringing to ask when their treatment is going to be, when she doesn't know and feels frustrated at being unable to be helpful. That frustration often comes across as rudeness just when you need sympathy noises, not irritation back.

If going private is an option for you then call around the private hospitals, I think that is what you are saying in your message. Some are so quiet they are reaching an agreement with the nhs to start treating patients.

Otherwise write an email to the consultant regularly highlighting your clinical need, make sure the GP and the rheumatologist know as well. When they start this kind of surgery you do not want to be forgotten.

I wish you good luck.

Sound advice. Things are going to take time to start back so as you say when they do recommence this kind of surgery as you rightly point out you don't want to be forgotten or overlooked.

Reading that, we are not going to get back to what was our normal for a long long time. My local private hospital is going to take about a year to catch on private patients. All cancers quite rightly will be seen first. Can the NHS survive?
