anyone seen that the health researchers/ scientists are looking at hydroxychloroquine to deal with corona virus? I think they are looking at a few existing drug treatments. But surprised as I use to take hoc but stopped 18 months ago.

I did hear that it was not much good at treating severe cases, but there's so much misinformation out there???

Didn’t you see Donald Trump singing its praises the other night?

Shame he appeared so confused he didn’t realise it had been on the market for years!

It's an anti malaria drug which, I believe may have been used successfully on other similar viruses but obviously not C-19 as it's so new. I'm assuming this is what is being 'worked' on at Porton Down on poor creatures like monkeys. C19 has shed a light on the unpleasantness and downright cruelty humans have inflicted on this planet. The canals in Venice are clear for the first time ever: there are wonderful pictures online of fish and ducks moving in and nitrogen oxide has dropped massively.

Hear, hear Brychni. Dolphins too as we saw on one of the news feeds on the phone the other day. Unfortunately that won't last long and will probably soon be back to abnormal when this virus is over. Totally agree with you when you say about the unpleasantness and downright cruelty humans have inflicted on this planet. x

A french doctor has been trialling it on patients. Far to soon to say yet whether it is worth taking for Covid-19.

I agree, I hate cruelty to animals in any shape or form. Some cultures seem more barbaric but we all exploit them in our day to day life. Fingers cross it gets sorted soon. It’s great that globally the scientist are sharing. I wonder how much hyc they give for cv19. I stopped taking it as had eye issues and other health concerns. So was surprised to see it as possible answer. Well we will see.

I still take one a day. Every time I try to stop my eyes get worse! I did wonder if it would help me fight CV. An old couple have died trying to self medicate, taking six times the daily amount. So trying this if not prescribed is not recommended.

yes, I heard this too. They were in the US. Do you mind me asking about your eyes?

Hi Brychni My eyes were very painful especially when waking, when first diagnosed. I took Hydroxy for 16 months which made a big difference, and when I tried to stop my eyes became sore again, so I continued on one a day. I am still taking them but for the last month or two my eyes have become sore again I wake up with sore sticky eyes which feel like I have to use my fingers to open them properly. It lasts for an hour or two then I feel ok.

That pretty severe and so distressing. Did you get check out for blepharitis type problem? Swollen eye lids crusty eyelashes. Cleaning lids and hot compress with a little massage to stimulate eye glands. I also use artificial tears when they get gritty from dry eyes. I have that in episodes. Issue with my eyes were changed at back of eyes picked up during a check. Hyc need to drink water to flush out toxins. Which I didn’t really do though I drank a lot of tea. I had kidney problems which I think contributed to my eye problem.

we should on here know already that not all drugs help all people

I think people not use to hyc would probably take a big dose. Like all medications start low then increase. However that is if don’t have something else that would make it dangerous. All drugs are toxic, some more so than others. Problem here is the shortage of supply to those who have prescribed it. I read an article saying that in America people who do take it for their condition have been told they won’t be prescribed due to a shortage. However because of Brexit uk govt have prepared for shortages so we should be ok.
