Flare up with virus ?

Hi guys anyone on here have a flare up everytime they come down with a virus?

I’ve got a really sore throat which I thought was to do with my stills disease as it is one of the symptoms, however even with a significant increase of steroids it’s not getting any better at all. I’ve felt lethargic all week. The only other symptom I’m getting is my rash that I get when I flare. Didn’t know if anyone on here when they get virus’ or colds etc if it causes flare ups with their diseases too?

Any advice appreciated :)

A virus or infection always puts a extra strain on our bodies. This is why immunosuppressants may make it even harder whereas vit C and D3 may make it easier for the immune system to cope.

Absolutely does! I’ve started taking 50 mg zinc daily, and when I am around people that are symptomatic, I up it to three. Also 5000 IU of Vitamin D daily. And Magnesium. The zinc has made the difference and helps me speed through and recover from colds! It’s been life changing. Every cold used to be an infection, off of meds, escalating inflammation.... fun roller coaster of hell. Anyway, I swear by the zinc! But not to forget the others as we autoimmune patients tend to be low in those minerals specifically. Hugs, hope you’re better soon!

It’s amazing how differently we react. I had the Norovirus and my symptoms disappeared!. Go figure. 🙃

Yep. Pretty much every time. In fact it's got to the point that when I have a flare start I hold my breath to see if I'm going down with something to account for it.

Hi, yeah every time I have a virus or infection my joints go into overdrive and knock me for six. I’m immune suppressed but find that any virus affects me and I flare terribly. I know others have a better time of it and their inflammation seems to disappear but not for me.

Last three I have had I have been off work sick, last one being this Friday, I feel better today, just resting. Hope to be well for work tomorrow, everytime I am ill I also have a bout of labrenthtitus (infection in the inner ear)I am just so paranoid being near people that are ill.

Thank you all for your help on this !! I have had the worst flare up recently and I am just hoping it goes away fully soon! I’m hoping to start Tocilizumab soon which is meant to be a wonder drug for a stills disease sufferer. I hope you all keep as well as possible and have no flares - I wish in 2020 they found a drug to zap away these diseases! If only!
