Severe headaches.

Hello,

I am a 46 year old who has had RA for 8 years.

I am on the following medication:

Folic Acid, Hydroxychloroquine, Leflunomide, Prednisolone, Sulfasalazine.Arcoxia.

I have had severe headache for the last day and wonder if any of you have had this symptom and if it turned out to be a side effect of one of these drugs or if it the RA itself that causes it.

I have taken paracetemol tonight but so far it hasn't worked.

Pain and swelling is bad especially in my hands but I have pains around my body.

I have been told recently that I qualify for a biologic and my Doctor said she felt my RA was very aggressive right from the start.

Many thanks.

I should add that I am waiting to get started on the biologic but am not yet on it.

A severe headache should be investigated. It's just possible that you could have Giant Cell Arteritis - which my sister had when she started her Rheumatoid Disease, so go and see your medical team for a blood test and, hopefully, reassurance.

hi, If I was you I d go and see the Rheumatologist, it sounds like you would benefit from one of the infusions that is available, less aggresive on your tummy and less side effects, my friend had one and feels like a new woman now.

See your doctors. We aren’t and they are. Best advice I can give as a retired nursing sister. Good luck and feel better soon.
