Hello everyone, does anybody have or know about RA side effects whilst taking Steriods, Methotrexte and Hydroxy and they gave developed a cough in the morning. I seem to have developed a cough most mornings, sometimes worse than others but seems (thankfully to be refunded to the first hour or so of getting up) . Thanks in advance for your replies.

Yes, I am taking 400mg daily Hydroxychloroquine and weekly injection of Benepali. I developed a tickly mucus type cough that sat at the top of my chest / bottom of throat. It progressed to waking me a few times per night as I had to sit up to clear the mucus. I also noticed stringy, excessive mucus when brushing my teeth ( sorry). I went to my GP and he felt it was inflammation of my sinuses. I was put on steroid nasal spray which made all the difference after 3 days. My Rheumatologist arranged a CT scan of my chest as an X-ray showed some minor blunting which was not thought to be fluid. The CT scan appears to be ok. At least I now have scans which shows my position now. I am keeping a close eye on the chesty mucus situation but it is so much better. I seem to notice it is slightly worse when it is cold and wet. I do feel it was inflammation related and not medication induced. I have also been on Prednisone a few times but for a very short period of time and don’t feel that was the cause. I would mention I was treated for latent TB prior to starting my Benepali so took the cough seriously. Do speak to your Rheumatologist as they may also carry out an X-ray. Hope it clears up soon.
Thank you for coming back to me, sounds like you were having it rough for a while. I'm seeing the nurse on Thursday and will mention it yo her, better yo be safe.
