I always buy dark chocolate and, thank goodness, I never have a problem with it.

I develop mouth ulcers immediately and feel generally unwell with gut pain after eating sugary foods of any type including chocolate.

It didn't happen pre RD.

I find I fet a stomach ache after eating chocolate that is very rich and a sore throat after eating something with too much sugar in it. It's good for me, in a way as I gsve been trying to cut chocolate out for ages and now I will as the stomach ache was fairly painful last night.

I’ve not noticed any issues with any type of chocolate. However, I do crave milk chocolate when I’m suffering with fatigue. I assume it’s the sugar I’m craving. I try very hard not to give into cravings though.

Me too - one of the first indicators of fatigue I get is craving chocolate.

I’ve never found any link between what I eat or drink with flares.

I don’t know if it’s a flare for me, but all over stiffness becomes very apparent very quickly and feel I dreadful. This also happens if I eat any confectionary with high sugar content. Also get hot flushes at the same time. 😩

Same here after quiting the cigs, booze and now eating a plant based diet chocolate is my only pleasure but I may have to quit it as I think its causing flare ups......

Could it be the sugar and not the chocolate that is causing the problem? I eat a little chocolate most everyday, but without the sugar. I've been using a little erythritol and monk fruit as a sweetener, get it at Costco, it's called Lakanto.

Im thinking it must be sugar related..

No, never. The qualifier for me is that I don't eat it every day and sometimes months go by without a craving. I will satisfy my craving and then move on. Sugar is not a bad guy for me.

Interesting, yes I think it’s sugar too. I have the same results, changed to dark chocolate and it’s not to bad. A glass of wine can set mine off too.
