Methotrexate and pregnancy

Hi I have started taking methotrexate injections I have had 4 in total but my husband and I have decided we want to try for our third baby.

How long will I need to stop taking them

For for them to be out of my system

How exciting! However, I think you need the advice of your Rheumy as it's recommended that you'd have stopped MTX for at least 3 months before trying but you've only had a month's worth of injections so the level retained in your body will be lower than someone who's been on it a while. That is of course unless you've only recently changed to injections from tablets & been on those some while?

There are other meds you can take, again your Rheumy will discuss those with you but the DMARDs which are safe to use are hydroxychloroquine & sulfasalazine, unless otherwise contraindicated.

I was told if I wanted more children that I needed to discuss it with my rheumatologist as they advise to wait 3 months after taking methotrexate.

Gee, your Rheumy should have had that conversation with you before prescribing?? Any questions about pregnancy and MTX, MUST go back to your Rheumatologist, cheers
