Yes, I take it but I’ve not noticed any side effects.
Thanks Kitty have you been taking it for long?
I took it for about 7 years. My consultant then took me off it. I think he thought I'd been on it long enough. I'm not sure if they still keep people on it very long term.
I had no side effects. Now just have Adcal and vit d.
I didn’t like it , so stopped taking it and bought boots own bone vitamin liquid
I am on Zelodronic Acid, I have it once yearly as an infusion.
I take it and have not had hair loss. Could it be one of your other meds that’s causing the problem?
Hope you can get it sorted.
Thanks Lolabridge, I havn't personally had hair loss as I have not started it yet I am just a little scared of taking it as someone said they lost their hair and eyebrows as well but it seems a lot have taken it and not had this problem so I think I will give it a try. Thank you for your reply and take care 14penny
They say my reaction was rare, but it happened! I took alendronate for, I'd guess, 5 years. Then my femur snapped when I was walking slightly downhill into the bus station. Now I have a pin from my hip to my knee.
That's what the consultant said. That it was rare, but they'd heard of it happening on several occasions. Suppose that sort of news would spread!
I have been on alendronic acid for 6 years and not had any side effects or lost any hair. Strangely enough I was talking to a lady at the clinic the other day and she thought it had made her hair grow quicker!
I've been on a combination of Calcium+Vitamin D and Alendronic Acid for over 8 years now. My bone density has improved over that period. I don't think my hair has thinned any more than to be expected in a 75-year-old. But following a recent DEXA scan the nurse told me that patients are normally advised to come off Alendronic Acid after 8 - 10 years to avoid unwanted side effects, perhaps resuming it a few years later.
