Trouble swallowing solids.

I have lost the ability to swallow solid food, so only liquids and powder dissolved in liquids in my diet since the end of January. I am getting a barium swallowing assessment done in March and a endoscopy as well to see what is going on. But with everything my blood work keeps looking worse and worse. I can not take most of my meds as I can not swallow them. Doctor knows but has not changed my meds or anything just says do not force swallowing as I could choke or aspirate if I do but still worried as everything that is low is getting lower and my condition markers are going up because it is active and not getting all of the meds to keep it down.

Over all I am stressed and unsure what is going on.

Anyone else have this problem, and if so any help or tips you could give me.

P.S. I do not have the ability to feel hungry or full but that is just how I have been whole life. Also checked for any throat/mouth infections and I have none.

Hi my mum had experienced something similar years after she was diagnosed with RA it turned out to be Srodjens (think I spelt it right) she eats small amounts now and must carry water with her at all times. Please have it checked out I hope all will be ok for you. Take care and let us know how you get on.

Hi there perhaps ask Dr for meds by injection to at least help with inflammation markers until the swallowing problem can be resolved. Keep us up to date with the next stage hopefully good news.

I already do injections for MTX so that one is okay, but it is on once a week. Where my other immunosupressant Sulfazalazine is 2 pills twice a day so 4 in total everyday. Also unfortunately my normal doc can not really change the meds from the specialist and the specialist needs to be booked like 1 or 2 months in advance to get in.

I’m sorry for what you are going through and I’m sorry your doctor isn’t being more cooperative. The majority, I believe, of medications do come in non tablet forms (liquid, suppository and meltlets etc) but they are very expensive. Unfortunately, you are in a position where you have no choice so can you speak to your doctor again or see someone else to explain? I had a period 4/5 months where I was on liquids only and they changed my medications to liquid.

Also expensive is not really good as I am a broke college student.
