I've read more than once from sources I deem credible that beer is good for inflammation. Guideline is 1 to 4 per week to bring it down. Also read other info, mostly from alternative medicine sites and general health articles that say stay away. So far I've found some legitimate studies, but they have been small. Results show a positive correlations. I may have seen some info on the Arthritis foundation site. Then I've read some articles that advocate beer. Wine is also supposed to be helpful to a lesser degree. Doing tons of research, dealing with my symptoms and anxiety always with other life stressors I've been remiss in accounting for where the information was found. I do know I consider them all reliable. Will dig into it more through Google Scholar to find studies. I just wanted to see what kind of input you guys have.
Just an afterthought, I studied dairy a lot too. Results conflict like crazy. The debate is whether it's inflammatory. My personal conclusion from reading the studies is that it isn't inflammatory, but a obviously a problem for those with lactose intolerance.
One more thing, and I remember the sources, is that a soda (cokes in my case) per day increases RA risk by 63%. I was horrified. I've been addicted to the stuff most of my life far exceeding that amount. I'm now on a healthy diet and avoid it save for a few cheats. Lost 16 pounds, no longer prediabetic and cholesterol in normal range. Anyway the soda info is from the Arthritis Foundation.
I've thrown in a lot more than I intended to in this post. Mainly, I'm curious about the beer thing. If my memory is right one source was from the Arthritis Foundation, which advocated quit smoking and quit the soda to vastly decrease the risk of RA. Of course it can't cure it once you have it, but it says it's a preventative measure. I'm hoping, maybe foolishly, I don't have full blown RA and diet might help prevent it. Still no defiinitive diagnosis.
