Has anybody suffered from red patches and ulcers inside lips? Have been off of all medication for 6 months now as RA seems to be in remission. My GP seems to think something to do with being on RA drugs for 7 years and the immune system. I have had a biopsy and still waiting for results although consultant said dont think anything ‘nasty’. It’s very sore to eat/drink. Hope all are as well as we can be. X

Hi, I think that the majority of people on MTX take folic acid to counteract mouth ulcers maybe your GP would give you advice on that.

An interesting occurrence with myself was when I used mouthwash some years ago I continually had mouth ulcers, when I spoke to my dentist about it he said that I was killing all the bacteria in my mouth so that there was nothing to fight the automatic immune system in my mouth to fight the ulcers, stopped using the mouth wash and the ulcers went. Just a thought that you may be interested in.
