Just started Methotrexate a week ago and have had indigestion and gas all week. I have IBS also but have never had indigestion in the middle of my chest before. Could the MTX have caused this?

Methotrexate
Yes.... talk to your GP about getting a stomach protector (PPI) to help you. Otherwise you can ask your rheumatologist to switch you to injections so it bypasses the stomach.
It can also just wear off over the weeks as you get used to the drug. But bad indigestion is so horrid and painful so sympathy.
Yes, mtx can do this. Injections may help rather than mtx tabs. But do take care and check with your GP as gut problems are common with mtx.
Hi Friends
To start on a positive note. MTX has given me my life back. I needed to however ride a few hurdles in the early days as of course MTX comes with a number of side effects. A number being gut related.
To help with gut complaints I have found a PPI helps big time. Also once I hit 15mg MTX orally I had more gut issues so moved on to inject-able MTX which solved that.
I hope MTX works for you too. I have to say however that I need to persevere in terms of the side effects. And what helped was coming to this site as there are all sorts of tricks you can employ to help with the side effects.
You may find as I did that after a few months its as if the body accepts the drug and a number of the side effects give up the ghost.
all the best
