Glad you enjoyed at least one meal Paul.
I'd check with your GP you're doing the right thing Paul. It's good it helped but you've quadrupled your prescribed daily dose, I'm not sure this is the answer. It can affect your magnesium levels, you've been on it a while haven't you? Maybe your GP will prescribe another med to help ease your problem, Gaviscon is what my h is prescribed as well as the med that reduces acid in the stomach but there may me something specific for your problem. If you explain you were able to keep food down that may help.
Now that is good news Paul! The highest dose of omeprazole you can take in one day is 120mg, according to the NHS website so I'm pretty sure you will be ok. Maybe go and see the doc, let them know that an increased dose is helping and they might be able to give you omeprazole tablets that are stronger, so it feels like you are taking less pills, if you know what I mean?
Pie and peas, mmmm!
hi anne thanks for info mine 20mg so maybe slightly overdone done it but at the moment results are in miracle class shussssh but i must thank all of you for info help and assistance meant a lot i would not take tabs willy nilly but it got to me even me ice lollies weren't working so many thanks am a creep dont trust me i have asked docs to treat me as though i had stomach ulcer no they say you aint got the bug heli bactor and cant giive a/bs without case for cause so will wait to see what tomos brings
I have problems too due to medication. I had to take omeprazole 40mg twice a day for ulcerated mouth and gullet and stomach. I have been on them for 12 months plus One teaspoon of Super Gaviscon after food this worked a treat but you should not stop the treatment until Gp SAYS SO. My Rhuemy has stopped Leflumonide and Specialist has changed to Lansoprazol and lowered dose to 60mg. I can now only take Super Gaviscon if I feel I need it. I do hope you get it sorted the last thing we need is Tummy problems. Gud luck.
hi lucy docs hit the roof and chemist about taking so much but it did feel
good whilst it lasted
I don't know if this will help, but have you tried Kefir, it's a probiotic milk, it has helped me with my G.O.R.D as it seems horrible that you have to take some much Omeprozole
I had a similar problem a few years ago turned out I have a sliding hiatus hernia and had the contents of Brighton beach in my gall bladder. Surgery sorted gall stones thank god. I have found that peptac is better for me with hiatus acid reflux and I have reduced my intake of milk because that set it off too. I no longer need omeprazole so I hope you get your issues sorted out soon because RA is bad enough without chronic stomach pain.
hi leics yes i do hiatus hernia whether its sliding or not dont know peptac can be funny with me sometimes do they mend hernia or leave it
Generally they don’t surgically mend hiatus hernias because it involves major surgery. Sounds to me like you need to be referred to gastro because it’s not right that you’re unable to eat anything and have so much nausea and are over medicating yourself which is serious in itself. If I were you I’d go and have a chat with GP to see if you can be referred think you need to see an expert or get a second opinion. The throat issues I think are down to the vagus nerve which can be hell it can make you feel like you’re having a heart attack the pain can be so bad. Go get another opinion not from pharmacist or non expert GP. I only took peptac just before bed at night not throughout the day.
thanks leics well they are doing something i am changing docs dont whether you seen all post been an ongoing now numerous exams test non bad news but nothing to fix going to start me on erythromycin not told me what for or anything just get it taken
Erythromycin is an antibiotic so perhaps they think you have a gut infection. Hope it works but if not go back and tell them.
That’s disgraceful haven’t you been sent for an endoscopy to see what the flipping problem is. Honestly think you deserve to know what’s going on. I hope you’re not taking NSAID’s or anything that contains aspirin or ibuprofen if you suspect an ulcer. For heavens sake why do they let you suffer for so long ? Time to get angry if you ask me, no-one will ever know your body like you.
Do not take ibuprofen it contains aspirin will play havoc with your gut. Get angry get another opinion. Only coming from experience I had a very nasty disease and I wouldn’t be here if I listened to the ‘it’s ok’ gang.
