Starting the mtx injections this week

I’m hoping this makes me feel better than the pills.

Interesting tho, I got a week off the mtx in between and I swear two fingers literally turned to the right on my right hand. And the knuckles near the top look like the bones are going to burst through the sides.

Pain sucks. I’m so sick of it.

Injections work better for many. Wishing you well.

Hope the injections are better for you. Interested as I'm on tablets and finding them harder to tolerate. Had them upped recently. Hope you get some relief very soon.

20 years ago when I was first put on MTX I was sat in clinic feeling so sick on my weekly dose of 25mg MTX. I was talking to a lovely old lady whom I’d seen numerous times and the MTX sickness topic came up. She told me a ‘cure’ - ‘young man make sure you have what is called a full fried English Breakfast on the day of the week you take your MTX tablets (why is it always Wednesday?), a good hour before taking your pills.’ This has worked for me (and her) for 20 years (she’s still going strong) - it may be purely psychological and not very scientific with a sample size of just 2 (plus all the other people I’ve told in 20 years) but it’s a lovely weekly treat and I’m still only 11st 8lbs!

MTX is better tolerated for many in injection form, I've been injecting 8 years now & not sure I'd tolerate my 20mg as well if I was on tablets. I hope you find them better too.

I have found the injections so much better than the tablets. The nausea was unbearable on 25mg tabs and immediately eased when I swapped over at the same dose. I truly hope it's the same for you.

The more I read of the nausea caused by Mtx I do wonder if a different manufacturer does make a difference?

I took it very successfully for 7 years & never had any nausea. I never knew there were different manufacturers as mine was always dispensed in a little brown bottle....no matter which pharmacy I got it from.

I like Dennis' idea of a "Full English" once a week though!

Hmm. I’ve been taking it at night as I was told if there was nausea I’d likely sleep thru it.

But honestly the nausea is/was unpredictable and could be for three days after..

But thanks.

I’m starting the shots tomorrow and I’ll keep you all posted. Thanks for so much support.
