Low Neutrophils

Hi just had blood test back and neutrophils are .89 and WBC 3.42

What could this mean I have been off methotrexate and humria for 2 weeks because I had a small skin cancer removed

Cindy, I'm not sure why your neutrophils are low, but my own are usually lower OFF methotrexate and higher on.

Hi Cindy, I would get in touch with your Rheumatology consultant. My penultimate routine blood showed low neutrophils c. 1.3 and low white blood cell count at 2.9. My GP faxed the results to my RD consultant who requested I have my bloods repeated in two weeks. She was not worried unless the neutrophil count fell below 1. Repeat bloods are now back in the normal range for both neutrophils and white blood cells. I am on Abatacept.

I read your blood test results and then related them to mine. Once in October in 2017 I had blood tests that matched your results and showed up abnormal ..........

Neutrophils at .89 and WBC at 3.42

What I have realised , with the benefit of experience is that these results need to be measured alongside multiple tests, not in isolation.

What's more important is your tests in 8 weeks time and measured against the medication you are taking by a professional.

To set your mind at rest, about a year ago my Neutrophils and my WBC were showing the same as yours and then 8 weeks later they were in normal boundaries and have been since.

I would say in isolation please don't worry.
