Goodbye kettles!

At last - a new gadget to replace a kettle! For years I have struggled with carrying a full kettle and/or pouring water from it. One solution was to use a small travel kettle, which is fine for just one cup but not much more.

So I was thrilled to discover this hot water dispenser. You just use a light plastic jug to put in however much water you want to boil, press a button and hey presto it's done and pours out of the spout into your waiting cup/mug underneath! It only takes 25 seconds to boil enough for a cup of tea and only dispenses the amount you need. So it's easy on the electric as well as not boiling more than you need - win-win! PLUS I found it £10 cheaper than Argos at John Lewis.

I have one similar to that and its great when i am on my own a i don't have to wait fo the kettle to boil.xx

I'd not seen these before but obviously there are other brands too. One thing that made me laugh whilst hunting this little beauty down was a kettle on the John Lewis website for £500 - that triggered a lot of jokes at home about all the other services it would have to perform to justify that price tag! X

Had one for years .couldn.t do without it now.struggled like you for a long time couldn.t lift the kettle.these are great enjoy.xx

Aldi now have one..much cheaper than all other brands....holds 2.5 litres so only needs filling once a day!

I have two, one upstairs for morning tea & one in the kitchen ....can't emphasise how useful they are!

ALWAYS check on Amazon before opening your purse!

I wanted new handles for my kitchen units ....checked local shop£4.80 each......on Amazon ..same size & make....12 for £20.

My carpenter now uses me to source bits & bobs,& I get paid in Prosecco!!!

Being retired with time to spare has its advantages!

I nearly always buy everything from either Amazon or eBay. I think this time I was so giddy to find something cheaper at John Lewis than Argos that I forgot to look any further. A lesson learned indeed!

On the subject of prosecco, the best/cheapest I've found is at Sainsbury's...£6.99 a bottle and with a screw top which I find easier to open. Cheers!

Will investigate,,,,but nearest Sainsburys is 12 miles away. I buy from Waitrose when it's reduced to £7.99! Pop in a sugar lump, tot of brandy & Angostura & no one can tell your " Champagne" Cocktail isn't the real thing!

@YanniBaci and SnooW - I thought they were a new thing, but clearly not! I've since had a look on Amazon and seen other/bigger ones so shop around, but the general feedback is once you've had one of these there's no going back.

One thing worth pointing out is that the one I have filters the water which was instantantly noticeable - great if you live in a hard water area, but obviously not important if you don't. Some models don't have filters.

I struggled with lifting/pouring a full kettle too, so a boiling water tap was on my wish-list when planning a new kitchen three years ago. It's proved to be well worth the relatively high cost, but I don't think they can be easily retro fitted because of the plumbing/electric/space requirements. I can recommend them for consideration by anyone with painful/weak hands who's having a new kitchen fitted, but those worktop hot water dispensers look like a brilliant solution otherwise!
