I am considering moving to this part of the country, and would be very grateful for any info/reports of experiences specifically with RA. Cambridgeshire, N. Suffolk also. Cheers.

Hi Hobbledehoy

I live on the Suffolk/Norfolk border in a very beautiful little village, quite close to the sea but actually surrounded by farmland, I’ve lived in this area for pretty much all my life and I love it! I could rattle on and on about how wonderful this part of the world is, but if your thinking of moving here you already know how lovely it is, I feel very privileged to live here!

I attend the N&N hospital in Norwich for Rheumatology, I was diagnosed 12 years ago, my Consultant has always been completely brilliant, very understanding and above all else is friendly and approachable, and if I’ve needed to see him as an extra to the usual 6 month appointment it’s never a problem.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Good morning, I moved to Norfolk 2 years ago and can honestly say I haven’t looked back . I go to the Norfolk and NorwIch hospital and have had exceptional care and treatment from all the team, they are so helpful, friendly and really listen . I have had RA for 9 years and have attended 4 other hospitals so definitely have comparisons. I have also had a huge amount of help and support from my GP which is also really paramount . Hope this helps you, good luck with what ever you decide .

I also live in Norfolk about 8 miles from Norwich. I also go to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I have had RA since 2010 and have always had excellent care from the Rheumatology department. They are proactive about treatment and my consultant has been very supportive in referrals for splints, ultrasounds, nerve conduction studies, orthotics and orthopaedics. I have used the Biologic Nurse advice line a few times and they have been quick at phoning me back when I have left a message and also getting me seen in between appointments. I am looking to move back to Yorkshire next year and I am not looking forward to going to a new rheumatology dept as I have had such good care in Norwich. Good luck with your move. Sxx

Thanks so much for your reply. My dream is to retire to Well Next The Sea, which is like where I grew up, though it hasn't a lot of chance of coming off because I am a social-housing applicant, with no close connections in the village other than warm acquaintanceship. But just in case, I am anxious about the local health trust, because I have aggressive RA & am on an expensive biologic. Thank you again, and best wishes yourself. x

If you live in Wells then you would be looked after by the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Kings Lynn. I don’t know anyone who attends there Rheumy department I’m afraid 😟. I suppose if you didn’t get on with them you could transfer to Norwich but that would mean a good hours travelling and if you are not having a good day it would be a long way to go. Good luck. Sxx🐾
