Rheumate: Anyone ever try "Rheumate" supplement with... - NRAS
Rheumate
Hi. It does sound rather comforting! I looked it up and see it is Folate as opposed to Folic Acid, so if Folic Acid doesn't work for you, hypothetically anyway, this might. However, this has to be a ''check with the Rheumatologist'.
Yes, in order to get more of it, you'd need a Rheumy's approval, but its something you need to push if it works for you. Im taking it now alone until my next Mtx appt. This guy sounded legit and knew his stuff versus some of these Dr's and Rheumy's who prescribe it.
NB. Mtx depletes folic acid, doesn't it so thats why its supplemented. Too much supplement isn't good either, so Rheum it is....
I may be poking a stick in the wheel here but we're given to understand that too much folic acid can cancel out MTX, one reason we're asked not to take it on MTX day. So, as folate is 'stronger' than folic acid are we not at risk of taking too much folate, or would we have to go up a dose (increase) to cancel it out if taking this supplement? I need to do some homework on equivalent folic acid/folate dose but rushing off to get ready now.
If you are one of the few people that can't process folic acid then it might be helpful - although you should be able to get folate on prescription if you don't tolerate folic acid. Equally if you a B12 deficient then your doc should prescribe that.
So it's really a choice if you want to pay yourself, and get a bit of turmeric thrown in?
