Getting ready to startw/Cimzia via MD office to offset some costs due to Question is, has anyone developed infections with the C+MTX?.

Getting ready to start cimzia at MD office due to medicare cost. Question is, has anyone had setious infections from combo of this and Methotrexate?

I have Cimzia and Mtx injections - no probs 😊

It is a risk, as with all biologics. However if you are tested for things like TB before you start and take sensible precautions like regular handwashing, avoiding those with chicken pox and so on the likelihood is that all will be well. Someone may well pop up who has had a horrid experience, but that doesn't mean you will.

I have been on Cimzia for over a year without any complications. I work on keeping my immune system in good condition. I have never taken any other medicines for my RA.

hello Bobslp, I have been taking Cimzia and MTX for about 3 years and the mtx for about 40 years, it has always been o.k, I had to come off it as I had a poitive T.B blood test, and miss it I have now been clear of Cimzia since Xmas, and had no ill effects, apart of course more R/A pain. It may well be worth giving this a try.
