You don't say what dose you were given, whether tablets or injection, and if tabs for how long....

However, it is very similar to prednisone, they are both corticosteroids. Methylprednisone is very slightly more effective, so often you are given a slightly lower dose that with prednisone.

Generally for injections at full dose the recommendation is no more than 3 a year. And short (less than 6 weeks) courses of tablets no more than twice a year I think. During a year you basically don't want to be taking more than would work out as 1mg/day - so three 120mg injections for example.

But it can be wonderful stuff! I call it a steroid holiday, as nearly as good as three weeks away!

Thanks, it's been tabs which taper off everyday. Down to only one tab tomorrow. THANKS so much for all the great info!!!! Ushagrace
