Hi,
Hope everyone is feeling good :). I keep hearing something about stomach bacteria causing you to have RA. Has anyone else heard this? I was curious.

Kittys,
There was some research years ago indicating that a wheat-based diet stimulated the growth of intestinal bacteria called Klebsiella. The antibodies we create against Klebsiella also react against our spine so there was thought to be a link between a wheat diet and autoimmune spinal arthritis. Therefore it makes sense that diet could also trigger a generalized autoimmune disease like RA but it would take a lot of research to prove it.
I guess that’s why some sufferers go on a gluten-free diet. My cousin who also has RA feels it helps her but I would consult a doctor first.
Unfortunately, some people take this microbiome stuff and oversimplify it way too much, often because they want to sell you something.
Hi, I have heard about this and for some months have been taking a good quality probiotic on the advice of my gastroenterologist. I am feeling better with less pain. I do not know if the tablets have helped but am certainly going to continue on them. I also take sea kelp capsules.
