Motability advice please?

Hi to everyone, it's been a while since I was last on. I heard from DVLA last week and have at last got my driving licence renewed (had let it lapse) - and since I do have enough points with PIP to qualify for the Motability scheme, am wondering if I should "go for it". I'm just very wary and undecided, becos we hear so many stories of people losing their entitlement, and having the car taken away. Some of you may recall the stress of what I went thru with the PIP process in the first place, and I would do just about anything to NOT have to repeat that nightmare! Don't even know when they will reassess me. Am I being a bit too pessimistic, do you think? There's no doubt having my own transport again would be an enormous help, living in a small rural town as I do. But the thought of having a car again, only to possibly have it taken away in maybe a year's time....it's putting me off. What do you think? Do any of you use the Motability scheme? Any advice or opinions gratefully received - thanks.

If you have been awarded pip your next review will be in three years time and usually it will be renewed then you might have to fill in forms again, but it will continue. So i wouldn't worry too much if i was you.xxxx

Hi Scotslass333,

Normally it would say somewhere on your entitlement letter when they will next review. It is usually around 3-4 years.

Enjoy car buying

Phone DWP and find out how long your PIP entitlement is then phone Motability and ask them about the car scheme.

Yeah - just a bit scared of rocking the boat! But that would be the sane thing to do I suppose, thanks.

You will need to know what length of award you have, Motability will need to know.
