Keep them in your hand luggage as they will freeze in the hold. Take a Dr prescription with you to prove what they are. Airport staff are used to dealing with them .

You can buy little holders that you soak in cold water and keep your meds at the right temperature for a couple of days. I got mine on the British diabetic association site.

You need to check the detailed storage information in patient information sheet provided with your medication. Some medications require long term storage in a fridge but can be used for up to 28 days if kept below 25c. If this is case for your medication you are in luck, products suitable for insulin such as Frio wallets will keep your medication safe. These are not suitable if temperature has to be 2-8c

If like me you are on Cimzia or another medication, which has to be always stored 2-8c, you need to investigate the iCool Weekender or Prestige depending on your end to end journey time. I would be wary of using hotel mini-bars as you cannot be sure of the temperature control. Ask the hotel in advance if they can help you.

If it all gets too difficult you can consider skipping a dose, most RA drugs are cumulative. I have had to skip 3 injections in the past, twice for dental treatment and once when I had bad cold. I survived with only a slight flare before the next injection.

Hi Jane,

I bought the icool weekender isothermic cool bag from Mollyjojo.co.uk which was fab! Keeps medication cool (2-8 °c) for 12 hours. Here's the link for it. Great service from MollyJoJo too. Would highly recommend. Also make sure you get A letter from your doctor confirming that you need to travel with it as you will need to take it in your hand luggage and may need to show security.
