My sister has been suffering for two years now with this snap pop and crackling in her neck! No doctors have given her any answers to what it might be. We think it could be arthritis of the neck. She can't move her neck without the constant crunching etc going on. She has been to a lot of different specialist but nothing has helped her yet. She had an ultrasound which picked up normal deterioration of neck joint. Age related I think! Hope someone gas any suggestions that might help her to relieve the pain etc

It could be OA,but if it is causing her that much pain she needs to keep on at her drs to get some help.xxx
The noise doesn't matter in itself. If the investigations haven't shown up anything other than the usual wear for her age (and, oh, dear, doesn't the wearing out start early!) then looking at her posture and how she uses her neck is the next task. She needs to find ways of using her body so that her neck does not give her so much pain.
recently someone mentioned a book by Robin Mackenzie called Look after Your Back - there is another called Look after Your Neck. I have also found the Alexander Technique very useful for preventing the pain in my neck and shoulders.
