Someone told me that a Podiatrists cannot diagnose OA !! I have been obsessing over this statement. Why would someone say such a thing. A Podiatrist is a 👨⚕️ who specialist in disorders affecting feet. They are definitely qualified to diagnose OA affecting your feet. In fact this doctor is quite knowledgeable about RD and Biologics.

OA diagnoses added to a very long list!
Podiatrists are trained in problems of the feet, so if you are specifically talking about OA in feet then they should recognise this. My previous one specialised in feet of people with RA, so was really helpful. But a podiatrist is not actually a doctor, so not really qualified to diagnose or treat OA elsewhere...
I agree and yes it was specifically my feet lol My mother in law is always recommending her doctors so I finally indulged her. He is very close to retirement. He is very knowledgeable about RD and Biologics. In his case specifically he was a GP prior to becoming a Podiatrist.
That makes a change doesn't it,mind you mine is very good as well.xxxxx
Maybe they meant, it couldn't be confirmed without x-rays or scans? As my granddaughter sings ( very badly I have to say! 😳) Let it go Let it goooo. Bless her. If your satisfied that he knows what he's talking about & can help you, that's all that matters.
Podiatrists are experts in their field. Many are surgeons extremely knowledable! They would know about OA , RA along with many other conditions.
Oh my goodness my podiatrist is to die for. He's been a huge help with my feet and ankles and is very knowledgeable. He's really helped me immensely. I can't imagine why anyone would say they could Dx OA.
I did have several X-rays of my feet. I reviewed them and have copies. I clearly have OA in both feet. I am paying for the sin of high heels. I am 5'2" so rarely or never wore flats until now lol at least I am female. I have sands led that are appropriate but will need a closed shoe that does not bend. I will simple let those joints solidify. I will no longer have mobility in those joints but cannot wear heels due to knees and hips anyway. No buggy just good to know what is causing such pain. I have learned to just take it in stride. It is what it is.
Buggy not buggy rofl
That is what he recommended as well. I do have sandals but will look for something I can wear with a dress lol I may just stop wearing dresses anyway. Except when it is very hot. My friend has all these tattoos . I have no interest in needles and chemicals beyond what I do already. I turn 57 in August. Amazing how quickly time passes lol I now object to my sons birthday and hope mine passes by unnoticed . I look pretty good for an old lady ha ha
