Hi, I'm having bad night sweats but it's all over and especially my head, it horrible. I thinking that I might put my swimming shorts on for bed tonight lol.

Whenever I do any type of house or garden work for long periods, or even when walking the dog, I start sweating from my head. Sometimes I can don't even have to exert too much effort and it starts. I've put it down to all the biologic medications I've taken through the years. It can be very embarrassing when I'm doing the shopping, but I try to ignore as best as I can (plus always have a towel handy, even in the car). Luckily, I don't wear make-up because even moisturiser disappears very quickly! I haven't seen a doc about it, but I imagine the person to start with may be a dermatologist.

I understood that sweating was one of the symptoms of RA. Looking back it was the first symptom I had - about two or three summers before diagnosis I began sweating all over my head and face. My hair was dripping (yuk) and had to carry a flannel at work and whenever I went out. Just thought it was my age - and being overweight.

There is info on the internet- can't remember if it's specifically covered on NRAS website.

That's really interesting - I have had a sweaty head and face for many, many years, and long before I started showing symptoms of Psoriatic Arthritis. I was told by my GP at the time that there was nothing to be done about it, but that was a very long time ago, so I'd welcome any info to the contrary. In the meantime, it's a facecloth in the handbag for me! 😜

It is covered by Web MD which has a list of conditions that can cause excessive sweating - including RA.

Oh yes don't you just love a head sweat when in an important meeting! Although to be fair they aren't that selective 😂 Any time of day but especially when being active - it's like boing in our own microclimate rain forest!

I like others have a hidden supply of kitchen towels in most places ready to mop up!

I've had them longer than the RA meds so I've put it down to the RA - another little gem to deal with x

Yes I have for several years now and have sort of got used to it. I almost always wake up and a few seconds later a wave of heat makes me sweat, this can be in the morning or when I turn over in my sleep. Had lots of tests to look for other causes but all negative so the assumption is that it is the Humiria or MTX. The suggestion was to stop these for a while and see if it goes away but I am not prepared to go back to the pain and immobility I had so have just put up with it.

Hello nellysgran

Emphatically yes, I do have specific sweating/water leakage from various parts of my scalp, to the extent that it feels like there is a tap that's been turned on.

A Hairdresser friend told me that there are some scalp conditions that can cause it, mine certainly started well before any meds.

I really don't know the answer, I've told my Doctor but they just say it's part of the condition, no help at all.

I have suffered with them for 5yr, for 4.5yr I was only on Prednisolone and my Dr blamed that. Then diagnosis changed to AS, Pred dose now only 2mg, as I am on biologics, but I still get them. Look like I've been in a rainforest. I work as a nurse and sometimes can blow dry my hair 5 times a day 😏. I think it is due to the levels of inflammation coursing through our bodies. Either that or these illnesses play havoc with our thermostat

Thank you all for your replies, there seems nothing that will help it only an umbrella and a towel !!!! so i guess i will have to put up with it till we can find a solution,,:-( xx

Hi I have night sweats when I retire to bed, it is a side effect of a tablet venlafaxine . Maybe your sweats are due to some medication you are taking. Sam.
