Be careful. Natural is not necessarily good or helpful. Plenty of natural compounds are highly toxic of course.

Always remember that joint damage is irreversible, if your alternative therapies do not work, be prepared to return to the conventional therapies.

It often takes time find the treatment which is going to work for you. There is little reliable evidence for alternative therapies so it will be hit and miss.

Some folk swear that diets that heal their stomach help, however they continue with medication until there is no inflammation. Diets do not work for everybody, I have tried some over the years for lengthy periods of time without success. This is a serious chronic disease which can lead to permanent, disabling damage if not controlled. Methotrexate has been and continues to be a very effective drug for me as it has for the majority. Unfortunately it mainly the few that suffer side effects that post rather than success stories.

NRAS has lots of information about drugs and alternative therapies etc. Which is un biased and not trying to sell you anything. Beware of Dr Google and any therapy that wants your money.

I just started an interesting book called The Autoimmune Solution by Dr Amy Myers who has an autoimmune disorder herself and is a doctor who set out to find scientifically sound ways to get herself well and off drugs. Can't tell you how effective her approach is as only just started book! But lots of food for thought, and also medical info

Yes I am aware of that, no harm in reading a book though :-)

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would contribute anyway. The Coimbra protocol is being used to treat people with autoimmune conditions. Being on traditional medications will not impact the Coimbra protocol in any negative way, in fact people will continue with their current medication until sufficient progress has been made and they feel ready to reduce their dose and slowly come off their medication. Please inform yourselves as now there are doctors who follow the Coimbra protocol in many parts of the world.
