Ive never been on a cruise but I would imagine you need to be careful with hand washing and what you eat , depending on where you are. Some countries advise you not to eat the salad or take ice . I would carry wipes in my bag even at home and a sanitizer in the car . I hope you have a lovely holiday and keep well 🌸🌸
Hi, I have been on several cruises and have never been unwell. I am on 3Dmards and Humira (a biologic). I take precautions: Hand washing is the biggie, I carry antibacterial gel everywhere with me. I never touch door handles if I can help it, I carry tissues in my pocket that I have cut up into sauares for this job, after opening a doorthen I throw that tissue in the bin. Using the toilets on board or ashore ALWAYS use a tissue or paper towel to open and close the doors. On cruises there is aleays a bin right outside the toilets to put your tissue into. ALWAYS use the handgels outside the food halls. I personally stay away from the self service buffet hall. I always use the restaurant s, but that is a personal choice. I take my medication with me, my Humira goes in the fridge in the cabin. I use a cool bag to transport it. Ibuy bottled water, I never use fountains etc.
Please contact me if I can help with anything else. Oh I would say look into where you want to go as being on Dmards and or biologics we Can't have live vaccines like Yellow fever. X Rie
I've done 2, Celebrity not the cheapest I must admit but your question does surprise me. Cruises ships have their own doctor and nurse on board an operating theatre and dialysis suite. A helli pad to get really really sick people off fast and very good hygiene. Sea sickness is not an issue as these days you don't know your moving unless you look to the horizon. Smooth is the word. Obviously as with normal day to day life their are risks but no bus will run you over. Food is superb, checking in easy and so much to do its fabulous. Going to Rome, Naples and Monaco this year and working my way through the cocktail menu! ll
Love it and Southhampton is so easy to get too. Look carefully when booking as free drinks is a good perk and an upgrade as well. Do get a balcony and best of all no baggage allowance and they do the laundry and shoe cleaning too.
Celebrity is 5 star and they have toilet attendants single use hand towels and all doors are opened for you. Biggest risk I'd imagine is the spa bath or swimming pools. As for food I'm also Celiac and that is not a problem I've never seen anything which I thought was a risk and I'm a fussy eater too. So book go and enjoy yourself and when going ashore the risk is the same as every other holiday really.
Don't be surprised because it is my first cruise. I just wanted to see other positive and negative trips experiences so I can get a heads up. Preparing for a fun trip.
Hi Trish, I think it's a perfectly reasonable question especially if you've not cruised before? You're on a ship with lots of other people but they are very clean...they have to be!! As long you follow you normal hygiene regime you will be fine.? I've been on a lot cruises and my first with RA however was last year it's a very personal choice but I'm not sure if it's for me anymore, as I need something a bit more relaxing ( so much to do all the time!) I felt exhausted going back to work!! Hope you have a great time! 😊
Hi Trish i am not long back from a Caribbean cruise and it was lovely no problems what so ever no upset tummy everything is very clean but i also stick to waiter service just to be on the safe side so go and enjoy x
