Another question re bloods

Hi again - another question which Frankiefarr's question made me remember I was wondering the other day! 😃

I am high RF but anti CCP negative - is there any chance I will become anti CCP positive in the future or is it that you are either positive or negative for ever?

Yes it can turn positive. Usually positive CCP is seen to predict something concerning the severity of the disease progression it is also quite exclusivly a prediction.of RA where as a positive RF can also bee seen in other AI diseases. This is how I have understood it.

Both the tests measure antibodies in your blood - different ones but they are both antibodies. These are tiny particles that your body produces when it's threatened by something. My non-medical way of thinking of them is they're like a miniature warrior army attacking invaders. (Only problem is that with RA these little warriors have got themselves mixed up and are attacking a mirage, as there's no invaders).

But anyway, they aren't permanent things so levels can go up and down according to how well your body is functioning. Although if the off button is stuck on the warrior making machine then levels will stay the same, but often the drugs do help reset things so levels drop.

I believe it can change because i wasnt positive that i recall st first then became positive on further ccp test after 6 months
