Methotrexate lost inches...

Hi been on methotrexate tablets for 3 months then jabs for 8 weeks and noticed I've gone down two dress sizes! I've not lost any weight though so could it be the inflammation going down? M x

How wonderful if it is! (At least I hope you're pleased). Weight is a weird thing. I've got fatter since having had steroids and then on mtx, but haven't actually gained any weight and I know my scales aren't faulty as I weigh in the same at the doctors

Let's hope that it is the inflammation reducing for you....your next blood test will let you know. Fingers crossed! x

I've lost weight (little bit) and inches on mtx as well. But the tone I had from exercise has gone, and I just look a bit gaunt. I could have also lost muscle? Clothes look good on me but I do look a bit skinny unclothed. I'm also on leflunomide.

Hope the inflammation has gone down for you. Also, have you recently stopped taking NSAIDS? I found when I went off them I lost inches as they make you retain a lot of fluid (at least I did)

that's interesting! I've been on the highest MTX dose for 2 yes, I'm finally coming down, more on the lowest and I've put on 1/2 a stone, without changing my exercise levels or diet so maybe the methot dose affect your weight some how, not that the Rheum teams ever really have any answers about that kind of stuff

How come everyone else loses weight but I keep putting it on!! Steroids put 7 stone on me over a year and when I came off them, I didn't loose an ounce, so unfair!

I was on mtx and prednisolone, then the swell slowly subside and my rheumy said I had muscle wastage. I was left with only 38 kg. Slowly I stopped prednisolone after 6 months and I exercise a lot to build back my muscle and put back on my normal weight now. I am not sure if it was due to the prednisolone that cause my muscle gone?
