Pain Relief
Is it a sharp pain like walking on glass to wards the front of your foot or elsewhere?
Leaving aside medications, lots of people find practising mindfulness or meditation helpful for chronic pain. There are plenty of websites offering methods on how to proceed if you fancy giving it a try - it's free and you've got nothing to lose! Failing that a good long soak in hot water with added soothing salts or oils for your foot, or try gently massaging in deep heat or tiger balm. Even a good old hot water bottle or a heated wheat bag wrapped round is soothing and might help ease the pain. If the foot is also swollen a conforming bandage to give support can often help- oh, and don't forget to elevate it as much as possible.
Good luck, hope it eases up for you.
I take naproxen every morning to ease my symptoms of my back,i can't take tramadol as it makes me depressed.xxxxx
Nurofen plus is the best
For those who don't know this, nurofen plus is ibuprofen and 12mg codeine phosphate. Unless you prefer buying branded products you can get exactly the same cheaper with the chemists' own brand products. And ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory so it shouldn't be taken on top of another anti-inflammatory like Naproxen.
Have you had your foot examined? If it is a mechanical problem then perhaps there is a long term solution that could help - like steroid injections into the joints or surgery. Sympathy though, it is so debilitating when you can't put your foot on the ground.
I am using prednisolone 7.5 mg + Lansoprazole as a stomach liner for them I also use Solpadol effervescent - paracetamol 500mg + Codeine 30mg, but at the moment they aren't really working and need tweaking I am finding.
I usually apply a heat pad but ice packs work better for some people. A TENS machine can also be good, depends on the type of pain.
A packet of frozen peas works for me! Simple but effective. Good luck, foot pain is dreadful. Lesley
Hi, I use cold therapy on my feet, inflammation is hot, so cold stuff makes sense to me, give it a go, you have nothing to lose.
Tramadol became ineffective for me. I agree you should have your foot checked out. I have a lot of pain with my feet. I have a bone spur on my heal but I am bone on bone and looking at surgery. I am not able to take any NSAIDS because they tear up my stomach. I take hydrocodone. It has been the only pain relief I get. It allows me to go to the gym and exercise. It allows me to live a somewhat normal life. It is very addictive and a controlled narcotic so you have to be very careful. Good luck. Foot pain in tough since you are always on your feel.
You may be way ahead of me on this, but have you ever had a family member or friend examine the bottom of your feet closely to see if there are any tiny cracks in the skin. I sometimes get those and it feels like bone spurs, yet can barely see them. A salve or thick lotion before putting on socks takes mine away in a couple of days.
You need to work out what kind of pain. If it is caused by a nerve nipping further up Your leg or in your back then you need to deal with that. If it is tendons or purely inflammation then heat and massage followed by cold helps these. Elevation of legs can help if it is tiredness or inflammation. Is it an ache, a shooting pain, severe in one place, these are just some of the things you need to ask yourself.
Good luck. Last resort physiotherapy.
