I lost a perfectly non cavity tooth. The tooth cracked in half and I had it extracted last week. I have another molar tooth that was next to it, and I am getting temperature sensitive. My fear is that another tooth cracked. Could my medications of Humira weekly, methotrexate, medrol, and other lesser drugs be causing the teeth fractures?

Teeth fracture
Hi sorry to hear about your dental problems. We have a very good section on our website about oral health and RA that may help to answer your question. here is the link : nras.org.uk/oral-health .
It could be saliva related if you suffer from a dry mouth... does your dentist know you have RA and does s/he check for saliva viscosity and jaw line swelling.

I have Sjogrens and I do take medicine for dry mouth.
I will have my jaw line checked.😃
Hello, I had similar things happen and it seems that the Sjogrens, that I see below you also have, increases the chances of decay. The lack of saliva to wash bacteria away. It all happened when I had other more pressing issues with the RA, the teeth weren't actually hurting when other things really were. To be honest I was never a regular at the dentist. That has all changed now and since I committed to the hygienist and regular check ups they have been brilliant and filled and sorted areas in the remaining teeth so I shouldn't get any more issues. They also gave me a prescription for a special toothpaste that strengthens teeth and told me not to rinse but leave the toothpaste on for as long as possible. I'm on a lot of medication as well but I don't think they have caused the issue with the teeth.
Good Luck with it all
Michele
