I've had enough of feeling drained and drawn from taking MTX each weekend. I've been having it on Fridays lately and the weekends are a washout. And after taking it for some months with no discernible difference, I want some time to do things.
I know, I know, don't stop the drugs. Yes, it can take quite a while (I've seen a year, quoted be one person) for it to kick in. But when the effects of the drug are worse than the disease, you do have to wonder about the choices. Anyway, it's only one weekend and will improve my disposition enormously.
Some people have it better than others while others have a wretched time on it. I'm one of the latter. No severe gastric upset with the SC injections, as I use to get on the tablets, but the fatigue, lethargy and dizziness are nasty.
I may end up taking it, but so far, it's off the agenda for today.

Well I had a week off last week - first time in 6 years. And only because I had done something to my back so was having dailŷ injections of various things which didn't mix well with MTX. I don't have problems with MTX at all, but I did really enjoy having a week off. I felt liberated! And I really enjoyed a couple of drinks too (well maybe more than a couple....)
So don't beat yourself up, but enjoy it and use energy to harass your rheumy about trying something else.
Good to hear others do too - if infrequently. I think I recall you saying you don't suffer with it. What a blessing that would be.
But I faltered - I've just taken it. I was thinking of sparing my wife for a weekend, so she didn't see me struggling with normal tasks for a change. But she said to do it as I was on the programme - so stick with it.
So sorry to hear you are having such a bad time with MTX I am finding being in this community so good as I can see just how the different drugs ands doses affect different people I myself have only just started and only taken my first dose, I haven't had any fatigue or any side effects like that but we shall see as time goes on lol
I wouldn't stress too much over taking a week's break. I've been on MTX for nearly 2 years and took a break last year because I was going away. The week before flying I took 1/2 dose, the week away no meds and the week after 1/2 a dose and then back to regular doses. Rheumy knew I did this and wasn't put out by it. I am currently taking a break this week as my WBC has worked its way down to only just being in the normal range which I am not happy about and I have a head cold with a sore throat so a med holiday is in order. I've been away so not had chance to ring rheumy about WBC so that will happen Monday! I take my folic acid as normal just not the MTX.
I take my med on Thursdays as I refuse to surrender my weekends to feeling 'off' and work on Friday keeps me busy so my focus is on that not the med feelings.
