Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone on here has had any issues with Sulf: and sunburn or bad skin reactions to the sun or sun beds?
Cheers

I believe it's another DMARD that can cause sun sensitivity. I'm considering SSZ to add to MTX & I've read it can be a side effect so I'll going to be have to be even more aware if I decide to try it. Oddly I used to live in a sunny climate & never burned but did the year we returned to the UK, only my legs but it was a lesson well learnt. I would be particularly careful if you're using sunbeds.
MTX made me a bit sun sensitive, but it was when I added in Sulpha that it really got extreme. At that point I was only using a low'ish factor sun screen and I blistered horribly all up my arms after going for a walk on a sunny day. Now I stick to factor 50 sun cream and I certainly wouldn't risk a sun bed with it.
I'm on Mtx, sulfa and Hydroxy, Ive found that I am more sun sensitive. I use factor 50 on my face now and nothing less than 30 anywhere else. Even the slightest sun, even here in UK I became red very quickly, so please be careful. I certainly would not use sunbeds, so please do carefully indeed.
I was on sulfasalazine in 2010 and burned so badly after an hour in not too strong sun in Northern Ireland that I could hardly eat or drink because my lips were burnt, my skin peeled for about 2 months and my kidneys were damaged! So please be terribly careful and don't even consider sun beds!

As previously suggested please avoid sunbeds. Use 15 minimum SPF in the UK and 30-50 in sunnier climes especially until you understand how you react.
In combination with MTX and Hydroxychloroquine I was very sensitive to the sun and used 50 when abroad and still got a bit of a tan.

Hi
Sulpha was terrible for sunburn for me. I always use a guaranteed all day product between 30 and 50 depending how high the sun is, but whilst on sulpha I burnt between fingers, toes, under bra straps, please be careful!!

I had a bad sun reaction when on sulphasalazine, my advice would be not to take chances. Best wishes, t
