I was told the biologics make you more sensitive to the sun, same as steroids x

I think sun sensitivity is very personal& a lot depends on how you reacted to the sun prior to drugs.

I have been on Rtx infusions for 4 years now & have had no adverse reactions to the sun...either here or abroad.

Of course I use sun lotions...but only the same strength I have always used.

I think you just have to be careful & take the sun in small doses until you are sure how will you react.

I’m afraid yes we do unfortunately we are more photosensitive with these drugs so the chance of skin cancer can increase .. just another gift from RD 😜

You may well be more sensitive to sunburn and UV damage. But this also means that you are likely to get Vit D deficient. Can't win can we?

Probably more sun sensitive - I know that's definitely a problem with MTX. Days of sun worshipping over for me certainly 😢

But just think what baby-soft, wrinkle free skin you'll have by avoiding those damaging rays :)

Never too late, ladies - smear some of the Factor 50 on your sunglasses too before looking in the mirror and hey presto - wrinkle-be-gone. Works for me :D :D

I’ve not been told that and there’s no mention in the pil but then I wasn’t told that about hydroxy or mtx either. Beginning to think I’ve been getting crap rheumys😢

As I said I think it depends on how you reacted to the sun before you took the drugs.

It also depend by what you mean by sun sensitive......5 hours flat out on a Mediterranean beach....is very differing from half an hour on a British beach!

I had no problems with the sun. Yes I’m fair wore sun cream before RD now with Factor 50 I instantly react violently to the sun since being on methotrexate

Yes I read th info on Mtx....but gave it a try & no probs.

I t’s obviously very personal...but if you like the sun it’s worth a try rather than sitting in the shade for the rest of your life.
