My RA Consultant has recently added Leflunomide to my medication ....

I have to have a blood pressure check every 2 weeks...

The first check was normal and the second one 3 days ago was elevated to 163 over 79...

I am a bit concerned by this and wondered if anyone else has experienced this

Thanks

Gail

Hi I took Leflunomide for 7 months last year no one ever told me to watch out for high blood pressure ! I am on a low dose of blood pressure tablets anyway as can be a problem of mine but I wonder why my rheumy didnt mention this side affect. However I check my bp myself and it was OK all the time I was on leflu. My blood pressure goes up as I get near the surgery door even when I am not nervous! Also just knowing its up makes it worse too.

You're so right. I can send my blood pressure up just thinking about it! I had my blood pressure taken just before and during Retuximab . I thought here we go but surprisingly it was fine. Hope you get sorted.

I take this stuff and its great !! I feel so much better, no pain, no fog, no tiredness and no swollen joints. I had side effects for about a fortnight then everything changed and life is normal once again. Best medication for me by a long way. I do my own blood pressure and was warned it might go up but it hasn't and must have regular blood tests and no booze. But its worth it.

I read this can increase your blood pressure. I took mine at home in a relaxed environment using one I bought from Lloyds the chemist. Very reliable. My BP was always raised at the surgery and I took them in my readings. I had to come off the drug because of severe gastrointestinal problems caused by it only after three weeks trial. Good luck!
