I have been suffering from this heat. Yesterday was one of the worse. I felt awful all day. The first time i suffered with the heat was when we was in Spain about 10 yrs ago. It was so hot my knees buckled and when i got back my rheumy nurse at the time said the extreme heat has the same effect on our bodies as the cold and wet. I hurt all over yesterday and boy did i feel grumpy as well. I think i am a little brighter this morning, just not as good as i feel i should be. So if your suffering think it might be the extreme heat as well adding to your problems.. Hugs to all.xxxx

Remember to drink lots, and I find bathing my feet in cool water really helps.
Yes, me Sylvi, my knees are screaming at me today. We have just got back from a brief walk through St. Albans Park and up to the shops - only out for an hour and a half. Really playing up plus only about 2 hrs sleep last night due to the heat and a hum dinger of a storm. Thought the roof was going to come in! Though the garden loved the constant deluge of rain. Dripping now - back to the fan! Wishing you better and cooler weather for us all. X
Yes Sylvi I feel the same. I have friends who dont have RA and their ankles swell up in the heat. This suggests to me that inflammation goes rampant and we suffer.
I read somewhere recently that tepid water cools better than freezing cold, that seems to make sense to me.
I think the heat is not all of it. I'm in Scotland and it really isnt too warm here. 20 degrees and everyone gets their kit off in hope! Our house is quite cool because its quite well insulated. But my RA has been flaring away, not helped by uncertainty about operations. Lets hope the weather settles down and that we all feel a bit better.
I wonder if anyone's done any research on RA problems and the season/weather. XXX
I had tickets, booked ages ago, to an exhibition in one of the most difficult places to get to in London on the hottest day of the year. The tube was a stifling sauna and knocked me out. I was completely dehydrated and dazed. Its taken me three days to feel normal again.
Hi Sylvi, my problems came to a head when I was in Spain, knees went and shoulders, was in extreme pain and couldn`t wait to get home. It was after that I was diagnosed with RA, so I know exactly what you mean and I am currently going through a flare up due to extreme heat. It is good to know, after I posted recently, that we are not the only ones. Excuse me now, I am going to climb into the freezer!
Hope you feel at least a little better today Sylvi. Try to keep hydrated but not fridge cold water.x
Hi Sylvi, I had a dreadful day yesterday, mainly because of the overnight temperature. Better today though especially after the terrific thunderstorm in the night.
I didn't hear the thunderstorm until I woke up. The problem or should I say the advantage is that at the moment due to that ulcer still not being healed I have to sleep on my right side and I am deaf in my left ear.
The heat is terrible at the moment, though a little better today. My Methotrexate injection pen must have overheated because the liquid seemed to go everywhere but into my thigh! I did nothing different so think the heat must have caused it. I might give the rest of the batch a miss and have asked for new ones. Now that I know, I will choose storing them in the fridge next time! And I've been grumpy too. I think we must be kind to ourselves and not be afraid to ask for help and rest a little if we feel unwell. I hope you feel a bit better now.
