There is a once a day modified release preparation of tramadol which can help level out the concentration of it in your blood - thus avoiding the peaks & troughs you get with 4-6 hourly dosing. This might be helpful..... However, you may find that it levels you out in zombie mode, which would not be a good thing! :)

It's annoying that the good painkillers aren't always very compatible with work. Have you tried anything else - co-dydramol, co-codamol - or does codeine not agree with you? It can be surprising how one thing can make you really spaced out but another drug doesn't. Sometimes you have to try a few different things to get the right one for you.

Hope work goes well.

Hi, I've taken Tramacet daily for years without problems. They have 37.5mg tramadol and 325mg paracetamol in each tablet. I take 1 or 2 tablets (depending on pain level, time of day etc) every 6 hours. The minimum I take is 1 tablet every 6 hours, as I find that if I leave a long gap, the next ones don't work as well. I have an alarm that goes off at 5am, when I usually take 2, then the next are at 11am, 5pm & 11pm. The GP got me to try switching to separate tramadol & paracetamol (probably cheaper for them), but it didn't work for me. Hope you're managing OK. Sue x
