Hi has anyone had this or taking it now? I've now been given this by my doctor and just wondered what people's thoughts were.

Hiya Kirsty, I've been taking etoricoxib (Arcoxia) 4 years primarily 90mg daily but only alternate days now, though my Rheumy's fine if I take it daily as & when necessary. It's my fourth COX & second COX-2 NSAID. My view is it's an excellent NSAID, certainly the one which has worked best for me though it is recommended that BP is regularly taken & a cardiovascular check if you've been on it for some time. Omeprazole or similar is suggested to take as it can cause tum problems. I always take mine in the evening just before dinner.

Hope this helps & you get on with it as well as I do.

Thank you for your reply, I will let you know how I get on with it x

I'm on arcoxia/etoricoxib too. 60mg/day. I take it in the morning with my handful!

I was a bit apprehensive at first after all the bad press COX-2 inhibitors have had (the Vioxx scandal), but my GP put my mind at ease a bit...

And I'm so glad I went on it! I've been on a bunch of standard NSAIDS and they did nothing for me, and made me feel varying levels of nauseous, but this one came with no noticeable side effects and has actually helped!

My mother also takes arcoxia, at a lower dose than me, but she has also found it to be the best NSAID she's tried.

I take lansoprazole with it as a stomach protector, my mother takes ranitidine.

As nomoreheels says, there is the risk of cardiac issues, but as long as you're monitored you shouldn't need to worry. Doctors and pharmacists are very aware of the risks associated with these drugs so it's not something they're going to miss or forget about.

Good luck! I hope this can be the thing that helps you and you tolerate it well. :)

Hi, I've been on etoricoxib 90 mg for 4 years with no real problems. One thing to remember is to leave at least 2 hours before taking your stomach protector......mine is omeprazole. I find it really effective .Hope you do too! M x

Hi, I have been on this since it became available with no side effects. Doctor said to trust him after those scares about heart problems so I have. I also take Omeprazole in the evening as I take my co bi in the morning. Good luck! X

I use it too, and have found it the most effective of the NSAIDs I've tried. It doesn't seem to cause me any side effects either and I like only having to take one a day.

This Etoricoxib medication is really intended for relieving pain from painful periods, arthritis and occasionally being given as take home medications for post-operative patients. However, this should be given by a doctor because there are a lot of drug interactions that could occur. For more details visit here internationaldrugmart website
