I hope so, too! My left is not quite so bad as yours, but my right looks about the same. I put a topical anti-inflammatory on 'em, which hasn't done much but smell medicinal. These are good pictures to show your rheumy and gp, I think. Perhaps a cup of something warm to wrap around? I'm drinking tea for comfort more than taste, today.

I have a nice pair of fingerless gloves that I wear on cooler days, too. I just find the warmth comforting.

Hoping they feel better soon, -Bat xx

Thanks for your reply Bat, sorry you are suffering with swollen hands too. What have you been diagnosed with and what are you taking for it? I hope you are being treated for this.

Warmth is good first thing, but they are so,hot, even running cold water on them hurts. Will let you know how I get on with my next Rheumy appointment.

OUCH! poor you I sympathise with you as my hands often look like that. I had to take off my rings and no longer wear them. Good pics to show rheumy and GP so they can see what happens when you aren't doing that on the day of your appointment t. It is always the way. Do you have an appt soon?

Ouch! Those do look swollen and painful. It makes Me even more grateful that mine are more or less 'normal' now. They are a bit stiff and my grip is bad, but even at the beginning, I don't think they were as swollen as yours. Poor you. I found Pernation Gel (original green lipped muscle extract). A bit soothing. It smells a bit like Vick.

Best

Jo

So sorry your hands are badly swollen, mine looked like that years ago. Just like bunches of bananas. They're OK now, but still hurt sometimes.

It was many years ago now Jan. Was diagnosed 1987 and GP put me on NSAIDS, but when my ESR went up to 85 he referred me to a consultant who started me on Sulphasalizine. After two weeks, I was walking normally and my hands went back to normal. Had many changes to treatment since then and currently on MTX 25ml, injections, Leflunomide 10mg tablet, and also on a reducing dose of Pred for Vasculitis.

Thanks for the speedy reply, well I have tried and failed most of those, except Leflunomide, the consultant had advised against this as I have high blood pressure, but at my last appointment he did mention perhaps I could try it if my blood pressure was stable ( it's not, even though I am on 100mg losartan per day) but we will find out at my next appointment. I am now on 100mg Hydroxychloroquine daily and 7.5 mg of prednisolone daily for lung problem. Not sure what the can do now.
