Is there anyone on Etanercept for RA and Omalizumab for asthma? I have been on Etanercept for about 8 years, but have had uncontrollable asthma for the last 2 years. I am on every drug the hospital can prescribe so am possibly going to start Omalizumab in the new year. It is a new drug and no one seems to know if the work well together. I wondered if anyone was on both medication and could advise me.

Hello

You will need to discuss your problems with you prescriber they will keep you right, if you are having some problems with a medication discuss this and they will arrange for bloods to be taken.

You seemed to have had a good run on some of your medications and you also seem to have the future mapped out regarding your treatment.

Good Luck

I only raised this because I had a copy of a letter from my RA consultant to to the asthma consultant asking if there is any evidence of both drugs working against each other but I think the asthma drug is too new so just wondered if anyone on here was on both. The RA drug isn't as effective as it used to be, which I will be discussing at my appointment in December, and I see the asthma Dr in January. I'm at the end of the line as far as they are concerned as regards conventional medicine. Thanks for your interest.

Have you asked NRAS - via their helpline perhaps? They have contact with so many people with the disease that perhaps they'll know of someone on both. It sounds as if the asthma drug is also a biologic so sounds hopeful as not as if it's a totally different lass of drug. Good luck

Thanks for your interest. I haven't contacted the NRAS as yet but it's on my 'to do' list.
