Humira - headache?

I had my first Humira injection last week and had a mild headache on the day and the following day. Yesterday the headache came back but worse and I feel sick and quite rotten. Is this from the Humira or am I overthinking this and just looking for problems lol! Clemmie

Hi Clemmie

So sorry you may be having problems with humira. I do hope it's just a blip!

I have been on it for 4 months. It does seem to be working in that my bloods have improved.

However, I have been having side effects, which have gradually got worse. I started feeling immense fatigue after the injections, headache, nausea, then stomach cramps and intermittent diahorrea.. Feel really unwell, and depressed. Lot of pain in ny hands, wrists and fingers.

I have a review coming up next week, and don't know what I hope will happen!

I do hope that your headache resolves, and you have no more problems. I have a friend who was on humira for over 10 years, she says it gave her her life back! It's such a big thing starting a new treatment isn't it, you have such high hopes, and it's difficult not to be over anxious, picking up on any small change in your health. On the other hand, it's so important to be aware of any changes!

Anyway, here's hoping this passes, and this is the biologic for you. I'll be thinking of you. M x

Thanks for replying. I was on a high for the first couple of days but this headache is bad and just won't seem to go. I just feel rotten, that's the only way to describe it really. It could just be a flare up of my neck pain that's causing it. I was having to go to the loo a lot last night too so hope that's just a flare of colitis and not the Humira. Good luck for your review next week. Clemmie x

I’m on my third month of Humira injections along with MTX injections and oral Prednisone. Finally, my lab work is improving. However, flu-like symptoms were extreme at first, including headaches. All that remains now is this horrific headache that is 24/7. Anyone else? What are you doing for it, please? My doctor prescribed Butalb-Acetaminophen-Caffeine (50-300-40) but no relief as of yet (4 days and counting). I’ve been using ice packs, one on the forehead and one on the back of my neck. My vision and over-all well-being are negativity effected by this horrendous headache. My rheumatologist feels it should dissipate in time. Help, please. Anything else someone thinks could help? Thank you! I hope that all of us have better health and use of these medications. Oh! BTW; I have taken folic acid everyday for the last 30+ years.

Hi there,

I started Humira 2 weeks ago, today I did my second injection, after the first one, I've had a headache for 10 days. Went to the chiropractor and everything, nothing helped. My pain management did a few trigger point injections that seemed to help some 😉 3 days ago. But today after second injection, the headache is back! 🙄😲 Nothing helps it.. I feel your pain! 😟

Thankfully after about 5-6 weeks the headache stopped returning after each injection and I was fine.
